Music together ® is an internationally recognized music and movement approach to early childhood music development for infants, toddlers, preschool and kindergarten children aged 0 to 5. The method includes their parents, teachers and other primary caregivers. Music Together classes are group classes intended to empower the child’s parents or caregivers to interact with their children musically.
Music Together® was developed by the Center for Music and Young Children (CMYC) in Princeton, NJ in 1987. CMYC pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally-appropriate early childhood music curriculum that emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. Classes are offered throughout the United States and four other countries.
Music Together® song collections include fun, simple yet musically interesting songs, rhythmic chants and play-alongs, both traditional and original that appeal to adults as well as children. The music is largely recorded with acoustic instruments as opposed to synthesized music (synthesizers are used for effect on some songs). Songbooks include notes on early childhood music development plus many home activity suggestions and illustrations. Each family who enrolls will receive a songbook, CD to support music play at home and a CD for the car. First-time families also get a guide called “Music and Your Child” to help explain important concepts and steppingstones in this beautiful growth process.
Fall Semester begins Monday September 7th and continues through the last Monday in November 2009. The class meets in the front studio (single door) at Artisan Piano on Rolling Hills Drive, Laredo Texas. Class time is 6:15 to 7:00 PM, Mondays.
